One of Sylvia Kristel’s finest and most popular films hit Blu-ray this month courtesy of Olive Films. Just Jaeckin’s underrated adaptation of D.H. Lawrence’s legendary novel Lady Chatterley’s Lover would not only give Sylvia the opportunity to play one of the most iconic characters of her career but it would, sadly, stand as also her final great work.
Olive’s Blu-ray is welcome but problematic. While the Blu-ray offers up the best looking version on home video the film has ever seen, little to know real restoration has gone into it. Add on to the annoying fact that Shane Briant’s name is misspelled on the front of the case and there are no extras (not even a trailer) help make this a disappointing release although it still stands as a must buy for fans of Kristel, Jaeckin and Lawrence.
